Frank Wydra, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon and fellowship trained in sports medicine. With his sports medicine background, his interests include shoulder, hip, and knee injuries as well as shoulder replacement. Using innovative technology, some of the surgeries he performs are rotator cuff repairs, knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstructions, and hip arthroscopy. He trained at Denver Health and also takes care of a variety of trauma and fractures.
Dr. Wydra was born and raised in Palos Park, Illinois (located in the south suburbs of Chicago). He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Dr. Wydra then earned his Master of Arts in Medical Science at Loyola University of Chicago. He continued his education at Rush University Medical College and was recognized by the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Wydra completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Colorado in 2018. He worked with the Denver Public Schools to provide medical care to their athletes and was the team physician at various football, wrestling, and gymnastic events.
Dr. Wydra went on to specialize in orthopedic sports medicine by completing a fellowship at Kerlan-Jobe Institute, a Cedars-Sinai affiliate in Santa Monica, California. There, he trained under leaders in the field of sports medicine. During his fellowship, he was assistant team physician to the LA Galaxy MLS soccer team, US Women’s Soccer team, Pepperdine University, Santa Monica College, the Santa Monica Rugby Club, AMGEN bike tour of California, and several of the local high school football teams. His experience during fellowship was invaluable and allowed him to care for patients and athletes from all athletic levels.
Dr. Wydra is very excited to be back in Denver. He is married to his amazing wife, Stevie, and enjoys all that Colorado has to offer. He enjoys spending time in the mountains and hiking with his dog Layla. Dr. Wydra is honored for the opportunity to provide medical care to the Denver community.
