Dr. Matthew Delarosa is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hand, wrist, and elbow surgery. He provides both surgical and nonsurgical treatment to improve function and reduce pain. He focuses on complex trauma and reconstruction of the upper extremity, wrist surgery and arthroscopy, elbow surgery, targeted muscle reinnervation, elective treatment of nerve compressions and hand arthritis, and injuries to soft tissues including nerves, tendons, and ligaments.

Originally from Baton Rouge, LA, Dr. Delarosa completed medical school and orthopedic training at LSUHSC New Orleans. He then further specialized in Hand and Microsurgery at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, NC under the direction of Dr. Glenn Gaston. In addition to the full spectrum of routine upper extremity problems, a significant portion of his fellowship training concentrated on brachial plexus and complex peripheral nerve injuries. Additionally, he traveled to Florianopolis, Brazil to study under Dr. Jayme Bertelli, an expert in peripheral nerve injuries, brachial plexus injuries, and tendon transfers. He is also interested in improving function of upper extremity amputees through targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR) and the use of a myoelectric prosthesis. Through his work in congenital, brachial plexus, and amputee specialty clinics he has gained a wealth of knowledge on the multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Working at OCC offered the opportunity to work amongst an amazing peer group of dedicated orthopedic surgeons that strive for nothing but the best for their patients.

Outside of work, Dr. Delarosa is an avid golfer and ultra runner as well as a fan of Texas, LSU and New Orleans Saints football. Most of his time off is spent with his wife, Ali, and their two children.

Dr. Delarosa is an amazing doctor and surgeon. Dr. Delarosa was referred to me by my previous orthopedic doctor as the best surgeon for my type of elbow injury. The whole experience has been positive and I'm grateful for everyone that played a part in it.

Dr. Delarosa and the OCC staff were great to work with. They got me in to see them on within a few minutes of the scheduled time. In the appointment, they diagnosed my issue and gave me several options to choose from before making a decision on how to proceed. I am glad I made the decision to see them for my injury.

Dr. Delarosa was incredibly helpful with an injury I had gotten months previous to seeing him. He finally gave me answers as to what was going on, he gave me options on what I could do and when surgery was eventually necessary he walked me through the procedure and made me feel very safe. I appreciate how he explained everything and treated me with so much compassion throughout the entire process. I would recommend him to anyone.

Wonderful and welcoming staff. After meeting with Doctor Delorosa I feel like I finally found a Doctor who listened to.my issues and laid out a plan I could understand and it made sense fo.me. I am very optimistic he can and will get me back on path to getting my quality life back after 7 cervical surgeries and a myriad of nerve issues in my neck, traps, and shoulders. I will update my progress as we move forward.

Met with Dr. Delarosa for the first time for “tennis elbow”. His staff was very welcoming. After examining my arm, Dr. Delarosa took the time to fully explain tennis elbow, the causes, and a myriad of treatment options (and the pluses and minuses of each). He was very thorough and explained everything in terms I could understand. Overall I had a great experience and would highly recommend.
